I teach Computer Science by creating worlds students want to explore, and I lead digital learning within one of the world’s largest education groups. At their core, both roles demand the same thing: understanding what technology can genuinely achieve before placing it in people’s hands.
What I bring to the table
I was part of the first cohort to teach Computer Science in the United Kingdom, at a point when gamification was the thing everyone was arguing about. That shaped how I work: I model learning outcomes against real scenarios or invented ones, and let students inhabit them.
Every scheme of work has a clear path to its outcomes, with enough slack built in to divert when the pace or the feedback says to.
The two things I actually care about are enjoyment and the relationships in the room. But enjoyment is subjective, which is why learner feedback isn't decorative here — since my first year teaching, students have been asked for honest reflections on what was hard, what landed, and what the next group should get instead.
