Tutoring
Computer Science IB, A-Level and GCSE, IB English, IB Mathematics, and Extended Essay or EPQ supervision. I take a small number of students at a time, because the point of one-to-one is that it is genuinely one-to-one.
The first session is diagnostic
Before anything else I want to find out what a student can already do and where the actual gap is, which is usually not where the report card says it is. We start from there and build a short plan you can see.
Sessions run an hour to 2 hours. I set work between them, but it is proportionate — a student already drowning in prep does not need more of it, they need the right piece of it.
Extended Essay and EPQ work runs differently. That is a supervision relationship rather than a subject one: scoping a question that can actually be answered in four thousand words, building a research plan, and holding the deadlines the EE quietly depends on. I supervise across subjects because the failure points are nearly always structural, and I currently carry the largest supervision cohort in my school.
Parents get a short written note after each session covering what we did and what to look out for. No portal, no login, just an email.
The short answer
My classroom post is Computer Science and Esports, so it is fair to ask where English, Maths and the Extended Essay come from. Here is the honest accounting.
Two years of private tuition
I have tutored IB English privately for two years, outside my timetabled subject. It is not something I picked up last term to widen the offer — it is work I have been doing consistently, with students who came back.
Qualified IB teacher
I am a qualified IB Mathematics teacher for Analysis & Approaches. Same training, same standard, same familiarity with what the examiners actually reward as any AA teacher on a timetable.
I train the supervisors
I often hold the largest EE and EPQ supervision cohort in my school, and I deliver the CPD that prepares other teachers to supervise. Teaching colleagues how to do it means I have had to make the process explicit rather than instinctive — which is exactly what a student needs from it.
